RECOMPOSE:

“Stages of life”

I’ll be honest, When Recompose first reached out, I couldn’t believe what i was hearing! “We are a “green tech” funeral home…We decompose human bodies in special dirt, in 30 days…like cremation, but we turn you into soil…”!

After it was explained to me and knowing it was on the cutting edge of the death care industry, and also a sustainable environmental option, i was all in! These folks are even having to pass new laws in states to make it legal, despite its practicality and ethicality. Recompose are the true front runners that I definitely wanted to partner with!

After we talked through design, recompose provided me with solid direction and photo reference for the front of the building, wanting it to echo the landing page for their website. After painting and completing the front we also painted a second design for the side of the building. That work was to reflect the stages of life through to Death. Lush green leaves through Autumn coloring all the way to the last leaf of winter, brown and ready to transition and pass on. In all this project took an empty lifeless warehouse and together with Olson Kundig we created a landmark for mourning and healing.
